The Adventureland Experiance - Mixing FUN with Work!!
As an employee of Adventureland, you will become an integral part of Iowa's top vacation destination.. You'll spend your summer having FUN while working with nearly 800 individuals.
Adventureland Amusement Park is just East of Des Moines, right off of Interstate 80 Exit 142A. Our guests enjoy over 100 rides, shows, and attractions, in addition to our watar park Adventure Bay.
Employee benefits include free park admission on select days, area business discoutns and numerous fun activites.
Job Opportunities
Adventureland season runs from the last weekend in April through the last weekend of September. We have a wide variety of opportunities for you to consider, like these:
- Accounting
-
- Revenue Auditor
- Duties include auditing park receipts and tickets, preparing & input of report data. Will also help out with other accounting duties.
- Bank Window Teller
- Duties include preparing, issuing and receiving change funds; operating various coin counters and currency counter machines. Fundamental accounting basic math skills are required for this position.
- Front Gate

- Parking Lot Attendants/Parking Lot Security
- Duties include sale of parking tickets, directing cars, ensuring that guests enter the park correctly, and general parking lot security. Employees must have general math skills.
- Ticket Sellers
- Employees must be able to efficiently sell general and group admission tickets, and handle money well. Basic math and computer skills are necessary.
- Ticket Takers
- Taking duties include taking admission tickets, checking season passes, giving and checking re-entry handstamps, giving general information to guests, and basic front gate security. Employees must be able to work quickly and efficiently, and must not be intimidated by large crowds.
- Food Service Operations

- Cashier/Window Sellers
- Duties include taking orders from guests, filling the order, and accomplishing a cash transaction with or without a cash register. Basic math skills are required.
- Prep Cooks
- Duties include preparation of food items being sold in the food court. Minimum age requirements apply.
- General Service
- Duties include assisting Cashiers to fill food orders, preparation of food items, and general cleaning of the food evironment. All food positions require cleaning of the work environment.
- Games Operations

- Games Operator/Arcade Attendant
- Duties include handling of money, issuing of prizes, and encouragement of players. Basic math skills and a fun, outgoing personality are required.
- Merchandise Department

- Retail Sales Clerks
- Duties include working in one of many souvenir shops in the park. Responsible for using cash register, light cleaning and stocking of shelves. Shops include indoor facilities as well as out mobile units.
- Rides Operations
-
- Operator
- Duties include the running of various rides, ensuring guests follow the ride policies and have a safe and enjoyable time. Positions require you to be on your feet and mobile. Age requirement on Operator positions.
- Operator Assistant
- Duties include assisting the Ride Operator in the safe operation of the ride assigned. Physical activity is required! Age requirement on Ride Assistants.
- Live Entertainment*

- Instrumentalists
- American Entertainment will also be auditioning brass instrumentalists for Adventureland's "Strolling Band" . For more information, e-mail auditions@americanentertainment.cc
- Costume Characters
- We will be interviewing for Costume Characters to entertain our guests in Adventureland Park's Bernie Bernard mascot costume and other "street performance" characters during the entire summer operating season.
- Sound Technicians
- Duties include running of sound mixer board for various shows and maintaining all audio related equipment throughout the complex. Past experience of this nature is preferred.
- Singers/Dancers
- Our show producer will be conducting auditions for the Soda & Sounds show during the month of February. Interested parties should contact American Entertainment at auditions@americanentertainment.cc or visit the web site at www.americanentertainment.cc for further information.
Individuals interested in audtioning are asked to prepare two vocal selections (in contrasting styles) and a one-minute dance routine.
- Security

- EMT/RN
- Duties include general first aid with park guests, and team members. Requires a great amount of walking.
- Lifeguards
-
- Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring guest safety
- Maintaining high safety standards
- Maintain skills at a rescue-ready level at all times
- Exceptional guest service skills
- Assisting with tasks such as water safety, tubes, and line control
- Being audited at any time to establish skill level and attentiveness
- Having the physical stamina to be able to spend extended periods of time in all weather conditions and temperatures

- Must be a minimum of 16 years old for this position
- Must successfully complete a swim test and American Red Cross Lifeguard test taught on site, or hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard or Shallow Water Attendant Certificate
Something for Everyone
Most positions require little or no experience. With a wide variety of jobs there is something for everyone. Positions involve being on your feet and remaining active while encountering the guest. We have positions that are indoors, semi-outdoors or completely outdoors. All positions are vital to developing the fun culture our guests have come to expect here when visiting Adventureland Park.

Internship Experience
Turn your summer job at Adventureland into an Internship experience. Our Bank Department can work with you on the necessary requirements at your school to receive credit for an intership.
